lyrics
I
When I woke up this morning I instantly noticed that something had changed. Something was different. I looked outside, the sky was cloudy, the air was warm and heavy and the city idly started its day. Everything was the same as always. But it felt different.
I pushed that notion to the side and started my morning. Daily routine. Daily news, strong coffee, heavy head. However the further I got into the day, the more unusual it seemed. And then I perceived this throbbing. Dull. Constant. My first thought was headache or something. Nothing special, might have been a bad night again. But it wasn’t pain at all, not even some kind of feeling. This throbbing… was a sound. A sound I couldn’t really place but still something kind of familiar to me. So I listened.
I tried to find out what it was, where it came from. But I couldn’t locate any source nearby. The sound didn’t seem to belong to this place.
I listened more and more closely to this dull and steady noise. I mean, if I say steady… it wasn’t really a simple repetition, it was more a constant rumbling, like some sort of pattern changing from time to time. Anyway, the sound was now everywhere. I could hear it so clearly now, it was omnipresent. And no matter what I did or what I thought, I wasn’t able to ignore it. No matter how hard I tried. That really messed me up. What was it?
I tried to identify where I might know it from, the way you try to match a fleeting face to a name you once knew. And I remembered when I was a kid, sometimes when I was lying in my bed the night could have been so quiet that I thought I could hear the distant rumbling of some heavy railway wagons cutting through the empty night. But I’ve never found out what that sound really was… So, in this moment I realized that the sound I now hear was not coming from the outside. It didn’t come from my apartment, not from my neighbors, not from the street or the city or anywhere else outside. This sound was inside of me.
And I had no idea how to deal with that…
II
Hold your breath
As if for a moment you stop time
Swallow the air that gives you life
Breath out and let outside
What’s been inside of you for such a while
Take your hands
Over your ears and close your eyes
Silence the noise that is outside
This automatic life
It has nothing to do with what you hear inside
As all fades into the quiet
This one sound feels like a riot
Oh, this sound feels like a riot
So many questions fill your mind
And you don’t know if this is right
You don’t know if this is right
Look around
Is this a life you have defined?
So well arranged and so aligned
While you are staggering in your mind
Kind of funny how it all seems to collide
And as you laugh you start to cry
But you don’t know the reason why
You don’t know the reason why
Everything blurs before your eyes
But you‘re feeling so alive
Yes it seems that you are feeling more than ever so alive
III
Back and forth the rhythm it spins you around
Pulsing deeply, turning your mind upside down
Hold on, give me a break
It’s more than I can take
As the sound will not subside
You’re completely occupied
And you have to realize
Every pattern in your life
Which had grown over time
Is dissolving by and by
More and more you feel like you’re losing your ground
And in this mess you’re starting to cling to the sound
Hold on, you move too fleet
This pace I cannot keep
IV
Oh my hungry heart
You’re tearing me apart
Don’t give up this time
Keep us both alive
It is all inside
The pulse that gives you life
V
And as the answers slip through your hands
You see that questions make no more sense to you
But this beat that is pumping inside your veins
In all dissolution it still remains so true
Go on and feed your heart
So you’ll become the one who you are
Go on, go by
The sound inside
You hear, you feel
Breathe in, breathe out
Let in, let out
Be here, be free
Become the one
You are
The sound
Inside you feel
Breathe in, breathe out
Let in, let out
Be here, be free

Aussie cosmonauts teleport their art rock to the dancefloor, expanding their spaced-out sound with elements of disco and synthpop. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 17, 2022
Bouncy, urgent, raucous indie rock, anthemic yet unpredictable; this Oxford, U.K. trio sounds defiantly full of life. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 28, 2020
ERIC PROG
